Student Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Instructions

Overview

The first time you log into MySCF, you will be prompted to register for multifactor authentication using your personal email and optionally using a text to your mobile device or an authentication app such as Google Authenticator.



Steps

  1. After receiving your acceptance letter, log in to MySCF by visiting SCF.edu and clicking on MySCFin the top right corner.
  2. Login using the username (located in your acceptance letter) and the password sent to yourpersonal email address and complete the CAPTCHA by checking the box and following the instructions.

  3. You will be prompted to enroll a personal email. Provide your personal email address and click Continue.

  4. A six-digit One-Time Passcode (OTP) will be sent to the email address you put in. Enter the OTP in the box provided and click Login.

  5. Click the “Try to continue logging in” button to log in.

  6. Optional: You will be asked to enroll a mobile phone number to receive your OTP via your phone (text/data rates may apply) instead of your personal email. Type in your 10-digit phone number and click Continue.
    Note: If you do not wish to enroll, or your cellular provider is not listed, check the “Permanently Suppress Reminders” checkbox and click Skip.

  7. If you enrolled your phone number: A One Time Password (OTP) will be texted to you. Enter it in the box provided and click Continue.

  8. Click the “Try to continue logging in” button to log in.

  9. Optional: After completing or skipping your phone enrollment, you will be prompted to enroll a mobile authenticator such as the Google authenticator. You will need two devices to complete this enrollment, one of which will need to be a mobile iOS or Android device with a camera.Download the Google Authenticator app from your device’s app store and click Continue. Note:If you do not wish to enroll, check the “Permanently Suppress Reminders” checkbox and click Skip.

  10. If you enrolled with a mobile authenticator: A QR code will appear on screen. You will need to open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device and scan the QR code using the Google Authenticator app. If done properly, you should now have a six-digit number presented to you on the app. Enter the six-digit number below the QR code and click Continue.Note: The number will change every 30 seconds.

  11. Click the “Try to continue logging in” button to log in.

  12. The next time you login, you will be prompted to enter an OTP from your chosen method (email/text/mobile authenticator).Note: If you are using a personal device, you can have it remember that device for the next time so you will not have to enter an OTP again. Check the check box “Remember this Device” and click Login. Do not check this box on a public/shared device!
